Brain Fog

I wrote like 14 or 15 pages yesterday. Writers who go much faster (and there are a gazillion of them) are probably laughing right now, but for me, this is a high number. My brain shut down somewhere around 6:30–about the same time I finished the chapter–and when I tried to do a little work on the next chapter, I didn’t get too far.

So I woke up this morning and my brain is still all foggy and sluggish. Sigh. I’m hoping to do another 15-20 pages today so it better straighten up–pronto! :-)

And believe it or not, I don’t have anything else to talk about. I could complain about Windows Live Update, but I won’t.

Wow, congrats! I think 15-20 pages is great for a single day’s work! I’m pushing myself now to get 4 pages a day. Even on the weekends — we just have so much family stuff to do. Hope you had a very productive day!

Thanks, Joely! 15 pages is a lot for me too, but then I see and hear writers talking about writing the entire first draft of their book in a month and it makes my progress seem insignificant. I console myself with the fact that my first draft is very close to my final version (with holes plugged) and these faster writers have more work to do then. I just wish I could combine speed and accuracy for lack of a better term.

And you shouldn’t feel bad about 4 pages. You have small children. They require time and attention. Family is what’s truly important!
