Thanksgiving Day Showdown

There was a showdown today before Thanksgiving Day dinner. I documented it for the world to see.

The squirrel is beneath the bird feeder and the crow is bitching him out.

The squirrel is not impressed.

The squirrel heads back to his place beneath the bird feeder.

The Crow is persistent, though, and he returns to complaining.

When he makes no progress with the squirrel, the crow brings in reinforcements.

Rambo Squirrel is not impressed.

The crow’s buddy gets tired of it and leaves. The squirrel returns to his food.

Rambo Squirrel gets tired of things and goes after the crow.

And goes after him again.

And goes after him yet again.

Rambo Squirrel goes back to his food, but the crow isn’t about to give up.

Stare down.

Rambo Squirrel emerges victorious!

  1. That sounds like my MikiSquirrel :) . Except that Miki is too lazy to go look for food, seeing that she has trained a human to pick the nuts for her while she sits on her shoulder/branch.

This is what MikiSquirrel does. She sits on my shoulder till I reach the tree of her choice, usually where she knows another squirrel is there eating. She stares up and chats about territorial rights, which ends with Other Squirrel throwing nuts at us for trespassing. Then she crosses her arms and looks at me (you can imagine her tapping her foot). Oh yeah. I dutifully squat down and gather thrown nuts into shirt pocket. MikiSquirrel then dives into pocket to pick nuts for feasting. Like I said, well-trained human. :P

OMG, that’s hilarious! She does have you well trained. My parents put out bread for the birds all the time and they always have a ton of animals in their yard–squirrels, birds, deer. It’s like Wild Kingdom. :-)
