» I have no idea where the idea for this story came from.  I had two characters—Kimi and Nic—and I knew they belonged together.  The rest just kind of came.

» Kimi's father and Mika's father are brothers.  The Noguchi family is big and Kimi has nearly two dozen cousins.  She's the youngest.
 

» Nic is Mika's older half-brother.  He was twenty when she was born.
