- The story was originally supposed to be a novella, but
it grew into a full novel.
- The plot morphed several times as I wrote it, but one
thing that remained constant was that Ryder was from a
working-class family and Langley was the daughter of an
ambassador.
- Ryder's best friend was supposed to be the hero of the
first Paladin League book (with his own heroine), but Ryder
and Langley arrived and went to the front of the line. Finn's story is
now book 2.
- Langley's last name changed multiple times before she
settled on Canfield.
- Ryder's father was originally a plumber in the story,
but as I wrote it, his career changed to auto mechanic. Good
thing since Ryder needed some of those skills.
- I had stories for Ryder's friends before Ryder.
Wicked Obsession explained a lot about the guys.
